If there is a positive about not being able to run it has to be that HWMBO is delighted with my domestic activities. The painting continues with vigour having completed Harri’s room and the hallway downstairs I have now done the landing and bathroom – feeling very proud of myself, although I do appear to have more paint on my painting overalls than on the wall and am hoping that the paint on my skin will come off before the wedding in just over 4 weeks time!
I had a bit of a worry this week about the size of the marquee so called my marvellous marque man who came along and marked it out for me. As the band is very large band (6) I have had to add an extra bay – so much for the band not costing me any money!!! We have also increased the size of the catering section of the tent so all in all more space and I’m feeling more relaxed.
Aqua-jogging is going well. With iPod attached to the top of my head I do an hour of “running” up and down the pool. It did make me giggle when glanced at a list of their pool rules, one of them said “No running” did that include in the pool!! On another occasion I had a moment when I laughed out loud when I spotted a virtually bold man blow drying his hair; I know I shouldn’t have laughed but it was very funny. Currently I’m in the slow lane and find myself chasing the person in front of me…..stupid women that I am!
My ankle is getting better although still looking swollen. A friend of mine who is a very good physio tole me to wear compression stocks in the evening to reduce the swelling, this is working which is great so will continue doing it for another few days. Tomorrow I have an appointment with my osteopath who will sort me out and give me further instructions!
This weekend sees the arrival of my sister, nieces and grandsons. Wayward Daughter No. 1 is off on her hen weekend so I have the boys and my sister will see her youngest nephew for the first time which is very exciting and I’m really really excited about seeing my sister who I haven’t seen for over a year.
Today I received an email from Centurion Running saying:
We have some bad news. We are sorry to heap further misery on you in these times. A time when pensions are being devalued, banks are inflating your mortgages, floods are destroying your homes and reality TV is eroding the minds of your children. And now to add to all that you are one of the unfortunate 16 people who have been selected to run in the inaugural “Piece of String Fun Run”. Later in life you will look back on 2012 and say “that was just not my year”
Why did I enter this event…..to see if my mindset really is a good as I would like it to be, I know I’m a fairly strong minded person, but how will I feel entering an event not knowing how far it is, how do you prepare yourself – lots of questions to be answered but a great challenge for the mind!
No painting tomorrow – yippee. aqua-jogging in the morning, interview, shopping and osteopath – quite a full on day.
Happy training
