Always a silver lining

I was a bit of a silly billy this week.  I’m usually very good when it comes to injuries, I listen to by body and go back when I know everything is OK, so why in heavens name I didn’t listen this time I will never know.  Having done a 10 mile run on Monday, slowly, with a friend my ankle although bruised and a bit sore held up well, so on wednesday myself and my running friend Caroline decided to have a bit of an adventure and try a new route which meant map reading – good practice.  All was going well until 1.5 miles into the run; while standing still (can you believe it) checking where we were supposed to be going i stepped backwards into a puddle and BANG ankle went and it was agony; annoyed and extremely frustrated I went back to the car and home.

The following day I managed to get an appointment with my doctor who sent me off for an x-ray – I knew it wasn’t broken but thought it better to check.  Wayward Daughter No. 1 drove me there just in case it was a break and I wouldn’t be allowed to drive home.

I’m a great believer that everything bad that happens has a silver lining, my silver lining has meant I have had more time to sort out my daughters wedding which is taking place in 5 weeks and completely unexpectedly I have started “nesting” its the sort of thing that happens when you are pregnant  and waiting for the arrival of your baby – thankfully I am definitely not pregnant (it would a miracle!!)

There were two tasks I had set myself while HWMBO was in Scotland fishing, the first to make my one remaining bedroom curtain which I have failed to do and the second was to paint the new bathroom – this is where the nesting process happened.  I filled in the holes in the ceiling and while waiting for them to dry decided to paint my youngest daughters room; when that was done I then didn’t like the idea of sanding down the ceiling in said bathroom so I painted the hall downstairs – bloody stupid idea, lots of woodwork….plonker! anyway that is now done and looking marvellous, Son & Heir to Nothing sanded down the bathroom ceiling and I have now painted the ceiling and walls.  So you see a very large silver lining, HWMBO will be delighted with my domestic goddess performance, I have had a week of no cooking (much to Son & Heir to Nothings annoyance!) and the ironing pile seems to be the size of Mt. Everest but I’m more than happy!

My house is filling up with huge quantities of wine and bubbly ready for the big day; instructions to everyone in the house that nothing is to be drunk or eaten without checking with me first…..will they listen…..probably not!  I keep waking up in the early hours of the morning with my head filled with wedding stuff – it always seems worse at night so I lie awake for hours trying to sort stuff out, eventually falling asleep a few hours later only to wake in the morning to find it wasn’t such a worry after all!

Hopefully if I look after my ankle, continue to aqua jog I will be ready to run again in no time – fingers crossed.

Looking forward to the return of HWMBO who sadly lost his salmon which means I’m off to the supermarket to buy a couple for the night before  the wedding.
