My spare room bed looks as though a bomb has landed on it. Running kit, sleeping bag, medical box, it’s at the moment on the bed and every time I think of something else that I might need I throw it onto the heap, this system works well for me while sorting out kit. When my order arrives from Likeys and I have purchased my food I can start to be more logical, get rid of a lot of stuff and then fit it all into the pack – the most important bit of kit I’m taking is the Tunbridge Wells Harriers Singlet!
The medical kit for the Jungle Ultra is bigger than on any other race I have been on before, I will check when out there if there is anything I can cut down on.
Running is going well. Have done two longish runs with pack and one without, the pack is beginning to feel easier (phew) although I am having problems with a sore on my back. I always have this problem with packs however well they fit. A big thank you to everyone on FB and Twitter who have come up with some great ideas and sent me stuff to try, I really appreciate the time you have taken to help me.
I have plucked up the courage to ring up a couple of Speaking Agencies, I feel I have a good story to tell and if by standing up and talking I can encourage someone to go and do something they wouldn’t normally have thought of then it will be worth all the nerves.
Curtain making has finally started again. Everything was going well, interlining in, lining hemmed and sewn onto the curtain (all by hand I might add) then I attached the tape. As I was giving the curtain its final press before hanging on the rail I discovered that I had put the lining on upside down – what a blithering idiot I am. All now unpicked and I will finish tomorrow (that will teach me)
I have my training plan which will take me up to the Jungle – under three weeks to go, getting very excited.
Happy Training
