Its taper time!!! Training for the week is now finished, all sessions were completed but I’m glad that today is a rest day as my right leg is a bit sore. Now its time to sort out my kit, find my secret supply of batteries (I have to hide them otherwise when I need some they have all been used up!) and try and work out what food I’m going to take. I’m not able to eat some of the food I would usually eat as I have a colonoscopy on the Monday after the race so no brown bread, fruit or nuts – this could be interesting!! I have been trying out those baby fruit breakfasts that I can just squeeze into my mouth, not the most delicious things I have ever tasted but not too bad. Then on Sunday I start drinking the revolting drink to clear out my system – I know, TMI!!
Next week I will do a couple of short runs, have a sports massage , eye-lashes tinted (well, rude not to really!) then start to go into panic mode as I always do, but the TP100 is a great race and fantastic preparation for the Double GUCR a couple of months later. I’m looking forward to the race, meeting up and chatting to friends, that’s whats so wonderful about the Ultra running community, so many marvellous people.
HWMBO will be going up on the Saturday night to stay with friends who live about 30 minutes from the finish line so its easier for him to pick me up; I will have a shower first so I don’t dirty his car!
Many Congratulations to Mr and Mrs Adams who got married yesterday in NZ!
Happy Training.
