Chaos in the Bedroom!

The Jungle Ultra is creeping ever closer and I don’t appear to be any further along the lines in terms of organisation, well, thats according to my spare room floor which is covered in food, kit and goodness knows what else!!

The kit for the race is all gathered together and waiting to be put in the pack ready to be weighed, however as always I struggle with the food choices.  I have my perpetuem for the actual running and an evening meal; its the other bits of food that cause the problem, what will I like, dislike,  always the same questions.  I do however know that I don’t like taking dried fruit by themselves as my taste buds never seem to enjoy them as much as when I’m in the UK so I have opted for a mixture of nuts and raisin and salted almonds to give me the calories.  My treat each day is a packet of twigglets – yummy!

My package from Likeys arrived on saturday, Christmas had come early.  I’m now waiting for my pink cycling gloves and waterproof  pack liner to arrive and I’m all set.  Guesses as to how much you think my pack will weigh?

Today I tried to dye my ToeToe white socks and X-Bionic top pink, according to the information on the packet the XB top shouldn’t have taken at all.  I followed the instructions except I left them soaking for much longer than 15 minutes, more like 4 hours.  Once rinsed the socks had obviously decided that they didn’t want to be pink but the top looks magnificent and ready for racing in the Jungle! Simon will be pleased!! (my ToeToe socks are coming with me just not pink)

Training is now beginning to slow down.  I have a 16k tomorrow without pack and a shorter run with full pack again on Wednesday then its taper time which thankfully with the parties coming up and the organising I have to do for HWMBO its perfect timing.  Coming up to a race everyone always says they should have trained more, should have done this that and the other, but we do what we can do fitting in work, family life, life and injury.  Although my training hasn’t gone to plan there is absolutely nothing I can do about it now so will go out and have an amazing experience in a part of the world I have always wanted to visit and take my camera to show you guys what an awesome race it is.

Happy Training.
