My feet are looking gorgeous, I could even wear stroppy sandals they are looking so marvellous. Sadly the same can’t be said for my running. The body is now ready to go (has been for a few days) but my achilles is not quite there, very nearly but still has some bruising and I feel its far more sensible putting the running off for a few more days to let it settle down properly, otherwise I could cause more problems and not make the Jungle. Remarkably I’m feeling quite relaxed about everything, well, there is no point getting angry as it just wastes energy and makes everything negative.
I have been busy cross training and aqua-jogging which I enjoy but it doesn’t give me the same buzz as running. At the beginning of the week I made a decision not to run in my next race The Hoka Highland Fling. It was always going to be a training run and a recce for the West Highland Way Race but it makes me very sad as I love Scotland and was looking forward to running in a beautiful location and catching up with friends,(and of course I wear Hokas) however I have to be sensible and think of my race in the Jungle a few weeks later.
I’m very excited about the Jungle Ultra and a wee bit nervous at the same time. Having just completed the Viking Way Ultra I can now concentrate on the Jungle. Most of the other competitors seem to be very well organised having sorted their food and it would appear have got most of their kit together. I on the other hand have a bottom draw (sounds like I’m getting married!!!) which I add to every time I buy something for the race, food however I haven’t even thought about yet. Today I ordered some kit from Likeys which I always love. Poor Martin is marvellous and we will chat for ages (I’m sure he turns his hearing aid off!!!)
Today has been spent having a sports massage, ordering kit and cleaning the house from top to bottom for the arrival of The Old Bag tomorrow! HWMBO has been cleaning the sliver which took ages (imagine if we had loads of it!) the house is now ready for my Grandson’s Christening on Sunday.
Good luck to all the JOGLERS who start their epic journey on the 20th and to Guy Jennings and Jane MacKinnon who are racing in the Lesotho Wildrun starting tomorrow, a 3 day staged race in a stunning location.
Happy training
