Chest infection on the way out!

Last week wasn’t the best of weeks.  My chest was still playing up which meant that every time I went for a run it felt as though someone was blocking my throat, running up a hill I also had someone sitting on my chest – thank goodness its small.  The only thing to do was make an appointment with the doctor to get it sorted.  Doc gave me a 5 day course of steroids and some antibiotics to get rid of the chest infection.  No long run for me this week, which is OK, happy with that – I managed a 30k.  Next week will be marvellous!

Had a fantastic evening with friends, really good to catch up.  Thankfully their hot tup wasn’t working which was a bit of a relief as last time I had to borrow some of Bernie’s silk boxer shorts which were HUGE and kept falling down….very dodgy!

Sunday I took as one of my rest days which was great giving me time to catch up on a few bits and pieces including sleep as we had gone to bed at 3am.

Today was wonderful, the air temperature had risen, snow was beginning to melt, things were looking up.  Took the dogs to the forest for a 20k run, thought I would just take it easy to test the old chest out.  Much better although not completely back to normal but I now don’t feel as though I have someone sitting on my chest, just blocking my throat, delighted  – result!

This afternoon I went to the gym for my speed session on the TM, better than last week and faster, oh yes, bring it on! so all in all everything is improving so I’m a happy bunny.  After the gym I had a session with Christian, a very young instructor who was giving me a program for plyometrics – all was going well until he told me I was going to jump onto a box, fine I thought (thinking it would be a small short box) NO he came back with a very large tall box, I told him he was having a laugh and there was no way I could jump on that, so out came the next box, still no, finally got to the smallest box (sounding a bit like goldilocks and the three bears!!) I did manage to jump onto this, but not very happy so I am now going to practice jumping as high as I can from a squat position progressing to the box – much better, if not a touch embarrassing!

A good start to what will hopefully be a marvellous week.

Happy training.
