minus 3 and chilled!

This week has been so relaxed and chilled, a complete contrast to usual weeks but rather nice.

Little runs have been the order of the day, I was only supposed to do two 5k runs but as I’m doing Febulous I have to fit in 7, so have done 5 leaving the remaining two to be completed at the weekend.  Unfortunately I haven’t managed to get out on my ElliptiGo, quite frankly it was far too cold – I know, I’m such a wimp  but I do dislike being cold.

HWMBO is coming with me this weekend (a bit of bonding going on!) he’s helping out as part of the crew which is fantastic.  He has received his instructions and will be on CP1 on both days then going to the finish to check that us runners are happy and have everything we need – marvellous, I hope he gets me warmed up quickly, although I rather suspect that his wife will be ignored as he quite rightly concentrates on the other runners.

The weather has finally turned, today it was minus 3, far too cold to be outside!  My bags are packed and as usual I have got far too much kit, but I like to be prepared for every occasion.  I can’t decide whether to run with my small pink backpack or just my bumbag so am taking both and goodness knows how many pairs of gloves as my hands always get cold, 4 Buffs, Toetoe and Wigwam socks and of course my Combo XT Hoka One One, what have I forgotten? Oh yes, stupid me, the rest of my running kit, that could have been embarrassing!

I received a lovely email today from Penny who has offered to run with me for part of the TP100 a real added bonus as I had planned to run the whole thing on my own, my friends are very generous with the time they give to me, thanks.

Most of today was spent trying to write an article for a trail running magazine, it seems to take me forever for ideas to flow, I know what I want to say, but finding the right words is a different matter, hopefully I’m nearly there.  Will start on the next article well ahead of time so I have more time to prepare it.

Good luck to Ian Sharman who is defending his amazing title at the Rocky Racoon 100 this week and James Elson the only other Brit on the list – I’m sure we will be up all night getting the results!

Also good luck to everyone taking part in the Thames Trot and of course the guys and gals racing the Pilgrims, we are all going to have a marvellous time.

Happy Training
